Advanced Disposal Selects Headquarters in Northeast Florida

Advanced Disposal Services Inc. has chosen Ponte Vedra in northeast Florida as its new corporate headquarters.

Advanced Dipsosal said in a news release it will invest $4 million in the new facility in St. Johns County, which will cover 56,000 square feet and create 85 new jobs. The facility will be in the greater Jacksonville area, where Advanced Disposal currently is based.

The company, which recently consolidated Veolia ES Solid Waste Inc. and Interstate Waste Services Inc. into its operations, also considered Atlanta, Charlotte and Milwaukee for headquarters sites.

With the new companies Advanced Disposal more than tripled its staff size, geographic footprint and revenue, and needed a new corporate headquarters facility to house the expanding company. The new building was built in 2009 and has been classified as a Category 5 hurricane-strength structure.

“The decision was not an easy one, and it ultimately came down to what was the best business decision for the company in terms of state and local financial incentives, corporate and individual income taxes, relocation expenses, negotiated office space fees and a region-wide business friendly environment,” said Charlie Appleby, Advanced Disposal CEO.  “Advanced Disposal was created in northeast Florida, and as we celebrate our twelfth anniversary, we are proud to announce that it will remain our corporate home for years to come benefitting the company and all northeast Florida counties.”

Advanced Disposal will have regional offices in Roswell, Ga. (South Region), Charlotte (East Region) and Batavia, Ill. (Central/Midwest Region).  Certain functions will remain in Milwaukee, where Veolia was based.

The new headquarters is at 90 Fort Wade Road, Ponte Verda, on the county line between St. Johns and Duval.

Advanced Disposal worked with Enterprise Florida, JAXUSA and St. Johns County to obtain a competitive financial incentive package for the corporate headquarters location.  Incentives offered the company played a significant role in the choice and, combined with the existing corporate staff in northeast Florida, secured the region for Advanced Disposal’s headquarters, the company said.
