Ex-Operator of Recycling Center Cries Foul Against Medina County (Ohio) Officials

The former operator of (Ohio) Medina County’s recycling facility has accused county officials of misleading the public into believing the facility processed less trash than it actually did.

Envision Waste, of Cleveland, sent a “cease and desist” letter to county officials April 16 demanding the county stop using the previously reported number of 4,054 tons of recycled materials. Envision said in the letter obtained by The Gazette that the number differed from figures in the 2012 Annual District Report to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.

“The numbers are by their very representation meant to confuse the public into thinking that the ‘Sum of All Parts’ program has a greater creditable diversion (recycling) rate than the operation of the CPF,” the letter said. CPF refers to the county’s Central Processing Facility.
