Super Bowl Recycling Totals 282,000 Pounds

Recycling collected at the Super Bowl totaled 282,000 pounds, or 141 tons, according to the Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee.

Phoenix-based Republic Services Inc. collected the material from Jan. 23 to Feb. 9, said Summer Keown, manager of environmental programs for the host committee, in an e-mail. Republic collected the following breakdown of recyclables: Lucas Oil Stadium, 12,680 pounds; Indiana Convention Center, 10,000 pounds; and Super Bowl Village, 130,920 pounds.

An additional 128,400 pounds of recyclables were recovered from Super Bowl venues and events.
