Ulster County, N.Y., Resource Recovery Agency Adopts New Fees, Waits On Contracts

The Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency has adopted higher fees that it will charge municipalities and is waiting to find out how many municipalities will sign long-term contracts the pickup of containers at transfer stations.

The agency’s board, at a meeting Wednesday, tabled a resolution that would have terminated the program in which solid waste containers are removed in 18 municipalities and recycling containers in 19 municipalities.

The adopted fees take effect July 1. They include $62 for emptying solid waste containers at $62 (an increase of $19) and a new rental charge of $85 per month for solid waste containers.
