Waste Connections donates 663 bikes to area nonprofits

Over three days, employees of Waste Connections Inc. assembled 663 bikes to be distributed to children by nonprofits throughout the county this holiday season.

Through personal donations, matching company funds and vendor donations, the employees of The Woodlands raised over $60,000 for the bike build program.

“Waste Connections has been doing the Bike Build for 14 years, and this was a record year for us in funds raised, bikes built and the number of locations and employees participating. We had families and youth groups working hard to assemble the bikes. It’s an incredible team effort and something we really look forward to doing each year. I think we all draw personal satisfaction knowing that we are making a difference in a child’s life,” said Keith Gordon, director of Information Systems for Waste Connections and leader of the Bike Build team.
