Waste Services provides collection, transfer, disposal and recycling services to commercial, industrial and residential customers in Florida and throughout Canada. As of the end of 2009, the firm owned 33 collection operations, 18 transfer stations, 12 recycling facilities and seven landfills. Waste Services provides collection services to roughly 86,000 commercial and industrial customers and about 7.2 million households.

In the fourth quarter of 2009, Toronto-based IESI-BFC reached an agreement to buy Waste Services. The transaction is slated to close in the first quarter of 2010. The companies say the transaction should result in between $25 million to $30 million in operational savings within two years of the merger's closing.
