Electronic Recyclers International (ERI) has partnered with the United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up campaign to provide for the recycling of electronic products for resale.

The partnership with the Fresno, Calif.-based ERI and the Washington-based United Nations Foundation will use the online platform BuyBackTech to allow Girl Up supporters to recycle gently-used electronics, according to a news release. The profits from the refurbished and resold items will go to help girls globally ages 13-18 get medical help, education and stay safe from violence.

“Our recent events with Girl Up Clubs in New York City were so successful, it truly does make sense that we take the concept on the road,” said John Shegerian, ERI chairman and CEO. “Together with the United Nations Foundation and this extraordinary group of young women behind the Girl Up campaign, we can help people all over the country become more environmentally responsible recyclers of electronics while contributing resulting funds to an important cause at the same time.”
