Starting Date for Lawrence, N.J.'s Organic Waste Program Pushed Back

Lawrence's curbside collection of organic waste was set to launch this week, but people have been slow to register, prompting officials to push back the starting date.

As of Tuesday, the township had received about 104 enrollment forms, said Gregory Whitehead, director of public works.

Initially, a minimum of 300 households was needed to roll out the program, but Central Jersey Waste and Recycling has since allowed the township to lower that to 150, a target it hopes to reach by the end of the month, Whitehead said.
