Republic Services Inc. has acquired waste and recycling firm Central Mass Disposal for an undisclosed amount.

A subsidiary of the Phoenix-based Republic, Allied Waste of Auburn (Mass.), said in a news release it expanded its services with the purchase of Auburn, Mass.-based Central Mass Disposal, which has assets in central and western Massachusetts.

Those assets include approximately six residential routes, six town contracts, 1,000 commercial and industrial customers and the fleet, containers, the facility and land.

The Republic subsidiary now will be servicing the municipal contracts in Massachusetts for Auburn, Ludlow, Millville, Northborough, Paxton and Sterling. The Central Mass Disposal customers will be serviced initially under the name Allied Waste Services and but eventually transition to Republic.

The Allied Waste of Auburn unit has operations in Auburn and Chicopee and more than 190 employees, said Allied General Manager Dan Higgins.
