Marquette Recycling Center Deal Terminated

The Marquette City Commission Monday voted to terminate their agreement with the Marquette County Solid Waste Authority for a new recycling center. The agreement would have seen a new facility built off of McClellan avenue in the city.

Originally it was supposed to be completed in October, but the Solid Waste Authority said they needed an extension. It was then pushed back to January 1, 2015. The authority claimed there were environmental issues with the site and that caused the delay and made the cost increase sharply. Members of the City Commission had serious concerns with the project.
