American LaFrance Exits Bankruptcy

American LaFrance, Summerville, S.C., has exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The company also has announced a “significant restructure of its business and a transformation of organization, processes and a segregation of facilities to better serve its product lines in domestic and global markets,” according to a press release.

The company will move its fire vehicles business to its facilities in Ephrata, Pa., and Hamburg, N.Y. The Summerville facility will remain the center for the LaFrance commercial cab and chassis models manufacturing.

“American LaFrance management is currently completing documentation for exciting new business ventures,” said Lynn Tilton, CEO of New York-based Patriarch Partners, which owns LaFrance, in a press release. “These initiatives are instrumental to the decision to rationalize facilities and processes for anticipated ramp of new lines of production.”
