Casella Waste Installs 200 Additional OPS Units

Casella Waste Systems, Rutland, Vt., has installed 200 additional on-board oil-refining systems, made by Oil Purification Systems (OPS), Shelton, Conn., on its off-highway and industrial engines. Last year, the company installed 800 of the same OPS-1 units and now expects to save $600 per vehicle and more than 70,000 gallons of oil each year.

"OPS came in on-time and on-budget with the first phase of implementation, so it was an easy decision for us to implement the system on our off-highway and industrial equipment,” said Gary Simmons, vice president of fleet management for Casella Waste, in a press release. “The OPS-1 implementation also helps us further advance our commitment to the environment right now, without having to wait months or even years for the real benefits to kick in."
