Houston Holds Contest for Ike Recycling

Houston Mayor Bill White has announced a contest for additional ideas on how to recycle debris from Hurricane Ike. First prize for the most-useable idea will receive $10,000. Second Prize will receive $5,000, and third prize will receive $2,500.

“Composting, erosion control and fuel for boilers and electric generation are just some of the ideas we are pursuing,” White said, in a press release. “But we recognize that Houston is full of bright minds that can help us expand our options and we want to make use of that.”

Ideas must be submitted by Oct. 31, and can be submitted to the city’s cleanup Web site, www.recycleike.com, or emailed to [email protected].
