ISRI Names Joseph Pickard to be New Chief Economist

The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) has named Joseph C. Pickard as its new chief economist and director of commodities. Pickard succeeds Bob Garino, who is retiring after 25 years with ISRI.

Pickard currently is serving as an economist for The International Copper Study Group in Lisbon, Portugal. He will start with ISRI in mid-October.

“The entire scrap recycling industry owes a tremendous debt to Bob Garino,” stated ISRI President Robin Wiener, in a press release. “He has been a driving force in providing our industry with key data and market trends on a wide range of commodities and he is highly respected both within the industry and within the analysts’ community. We know that Bob and his wonderful wife, Bert, are excited about Bob’s upcoming retirement and will take full advantage of it. At the same time, we are excited to have Joe Pickard joining ISRI and bringing his talents and expertise to our industry.”
