Illinois Awards Grants To Boost Recycling

Springfield, Ill. — The state of Illinois has awarded more than $400,000 in matching grant money to eight organizations in the southern part of the state to expand or begin recycling programs, according to The Southern Illinoisan newspaper. The grants include $100,000 for Southern Recycling in Carbondale, Ill., and $50,000 for Burris Disposal, also in Carbondale, to purchase new separating equipment. Other organizations receiving grants include the city of Du Quoin, the Choate Mental Health Center, Southern Illinois University Carbondale and Wayne County.
