Shaw Industries Joins EPA’s WasteWise Program

Shaw Industries, a carpet manufacturer, has joined the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) WasteWise program. Members of the program voluntarily set goals to reduce the municipal solid waste that they produce. EPA provides members with technical assistance to achieve the goals.

According to an EPA press release, Shaw is joining WasteWise “as it is launching a project to better track its efforts in reducing the amount of post-industrial waste produced in all of its carpet, rug, hardwood and laminate manufacturing facilities. The total post-industrial waste produced will be compared to the amount of finished production, and Shaw intends to significantly reduce that percentage over the next three years and beyond.”
