Houston-based Strategic Materials has purchased Container Recycling Alliance (CRA), a glass recycler based in Lombard, Ill., from the Chicago-based equity firm of WHI Capital Partners. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“CRA was an outstanding investment for us,” said Adam Schecter, managing partner of WHI Capital Partners, in a press release. “By improving operations and increasing capacity, CRA was organically able to substantially increase both its sales and profitability during our ownership period.”

WHI Capital Partners acquired CRA from Houston-based Waste Management in September 2006.
