Los Angeles — The former owner of a waste services company has received a five-month prison sentence for bribing a Carson, Calif., councilman to support a garbage hauling contract, according to The Associated Press (AP). Last week, a federal judge sentenced Michael Aloyan, the former owner of Compton, Calif.-based Hub City Disposal, to five months of prison and another five months of home confinement, and also fined him $75,000, the AP says. "In pleading last year, Aloyan acknowledged that in 2001 he proposed paying then-Councilman Manuel Ontal $1.5 million in exchange for voting to give the city’s waste contract to his company," the AP reports.
