Casella Sells Two Transfer Stations and Cape Cod Hauling Operations

Rutland, Vt.-based Casella Waste Systems has sold two transfer stations and its Cape Cod, Mass., hauling operations to United Waste Management for $7.8 million. The sale closed on July 1.

A construction and demolition debris transfer station in Rochester, Mass., and a transfer station in Sandwich, Mass., were included in the transaction. “Our goal is to divest $25.0 million of non-contributing, non-strategic assets to help de-lever the balance sheet by the end of the calendar year,” said John W. Casella, chairman and CEO of Casella Waste Systems, in a press release. “With [this transaction], we have achieved approximately $11.1 million of total divestiture proceeds thus far — significant progress towards our objective.”
