Casella to Buy Massachusetts Landfill

Rutland, Vt. – Casella Waste Systems Inc. has signed an agreement to acquire the Hardwick Sanitary Landfill, Hardwick, Mass. The landfill currently accepts 300 tons of waste per day that mostly consists of construction and demolition (C&debris. But Hardwick is permitted to accept up to 50 tons per day of municipal solid waste (MSW). Casella expects the purchase to be final in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2003. The company has already received an operating permit for the facility’s recently constructed phase II.
