PA DEP Presents Waste Watcher Awards

Harrisburg -- The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has presented Waste Watcher awards to 62 organizations from 28 counties for their recycling efforts in 2001.

The Waste Watcher awards are presented in nine categories: curbside recycling collection, drop-off recycling, pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) programs, commercial/institutional recycling, recycling education programs, materials recovery facilities (MRFs), recycled product manufacturers, composting facilities and reuse.

The awards were co-sponsored by the DEP, the Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania (PROP) and the Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association (PWIA). For more information, visit www.state.pa.us, keyword "Waste Watcher."
