Palmetto Expanding Recycling Operations in South Carolina

Polymer producer Palmetto Synthetics is expanding its recycling operations at its Kingstree, S.C., plant.

Palmetto, based in Kingstree, said in a news release it is adding a second recycling line at the facility at a cost of $1.1 million. The project will create 20 new jobs.

The company also will build a new 25,000-sq.-ft. warehouse facility.

Palmetto expects to complete the expansion by April of next year. It most recently expanded its facility in 2008 and 2010.

South Carolina’s Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved a rural infrastructure grant of $100,000 for real property improvements.

Palmetto is a producer of staple fiber, consisting of polyester, nylon and other specialty polymers.
