Cohen Recycling Unit Buys Scrap Firm Wise Recycling

A Cohen Recycling unit has purchased scrap metal recycling firm Wise Recycling of Lexington (Ky.) for an undisclosed amount.

Baker Iron and Metal, a scrap metal, electronics and automobile recycler, acquired the Muscle Shoals, Ala.-based Wise to expand its market share in Kentucky, making it the only scrap metal recycler in Lexington, according to a news release. Cohen Recycling is based in Middletown, Ohio.

Baker has closed Wise Recycling’s facility in Lexington, and the employees have been shifted to Baker’s two locations in Lexington.

“We are very excited about the opportunity to earn the business of Wise’s customer base, and promise to provide a rewarding experience to everyone that recycles with us,” said Cohen Recycling President Ken Cohen.

Added Andrew Logsdon, president of Wise Recycling, “We are confident that the integration of Wise’s and Baker’s teams will make Baker Iron and Metal an even stronger company going forward, carrying on the rich tradition of both Baker and Cohen for nearly a century.”
