American Disposal Services is building a single-stream recycling facility In Manassas, Va.

The waste and recycling company, which also is based in Manassas, said the American Recycling Center should open in January.  The company said in a news release it should be the most modern recycling processor in the greater Washington metropolitan area.

The facility also will include an interactive recycling education center, scheduled to open in the spring.

American Disposal described the facility’s processing capacity as being able to save more than a half million cubic yards of landfill space per year.

It will process recyclables from the Washington metropolitan area, ranging from as far west as West Virginia to locations north of Richmond.

The family owned business provides waste and recycling services to residential and commercial customers in Virginia, Georgia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
