Pinellas County has Highest Recycling Rate in Florida

According to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Pinellas County, Fla., had a recycling rate of 89 percent for 2015, which is the highest rate for the State of Florida. An increase in recycled construction and demolition debris was a major contributor to the high recycling rate.

This accomplishment has helped the state move closer to its goal of recycling 75 percent of its waste by 2020. In 2015, the state’s recycling rate climbed from 42 percent to 54 percent.
