Waste Management Inc. has launched a discount program with Hewlett Packard Development Co. LP (HP) for the waste company’s small and medium-sized business customers.

The Houston-based waste and recycling company said it has established its Vendor Alliance Program to its vendors for discounts on the Palo Alto, Calif.-based HP’s commercial technology and equipment. The savings come from Waste Management’s ability to leverage a greater pricing advantage than individual business owners could achieve on their own, the company said in a news release.

Waste Management said it plans for the HP program to be the first of several discount programs it will offer for small and medium business customers through partnerships with national retailers and service providers.

“We’re already a strategic environmental services provider to our customers, and we believe this program will be of great value to business owners,” said Downs Deering, vice president of Waste Management’s Small and Medium Business Solutions. “With our large and diverse customer base, we believe other major retailers and service companies will want to participate in our program.”

Qualified Waste Management small and medium business customers can subscribe to the program by contacting their local Waste Management office at www.wm.com.
