Allied Waste Cleans Up Debt

Scottsdale, Ariz. -- Allied Waste Industries Inc. has sold its Tennessee collection and transfer operations in Knoxville and Cleveland to Waste Connections Inc., Folsom, Calif. The net transaction was $50 million. Allied Waste also has announced plans sell its solid waste collection operations in Palatine, Ill., for approximately $20 million. All agreements and plans are separate. Company leaders are reporting that the proceeds of the sale will be used for debt and acquisitions, such as the company’s plans to acquire four landfills and one transfer station.
