Bush Administration Opposes Clean Energy Financing

Washington, D.C. — The Bush administration plans to oppose a proposal that would phase out fossil fuel subsidies and would require richer countries to help poorer countries get their power from renewable energy sources such as landfill gas, wind and solar power, administration sources said. The proposal was commissioned by the Group of 8 industrialized nations, which holds its annual summit next week in Genoa, Italy.
