Denver — Warmer weather and low snowpack in the Front Range are causing the region's bears to awaken early from hibernation. Scavenging for food, bears have appeared on residents' back porches and yards. Consequently, officials are rushing to pass rules on bear-proofing trash cans and securing large bins.
