Along with Mickey Mouse, 1,200 recycled product suppliers and buyers passionate about increasing recycled content in products gathered for the Third Annual Recycled Product Trade Show, held April 4 and 5, 2002, at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, Calif.

The show was sponsored by the Sacramento-based California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) and Department of General Services, and was partially funded by Disneyland, which donated prizes and services during the two-day event.

Products such as compost, re-refined oil, toner cartridges, writing paper, plastic lumber, plastic containers, aggregates, asphalt and rubberized asphalt were highlighted.

Linda Moulton-Patterson, CIWMB chair and senior vice president of Disney's environmental department, says the show should help to strengthen markets for secondary materials being diverted throughout California.

“We have made great strides in our recycling efforts in California over the past 10 years,” she says. “Now, it is time to close the loop and purchase recycled content products made from those materials we recycle at home and at work.”
