Washington, D.C. — The House Energy and Commerce Committee has called on the boards of 13 U.S. companies, including Houston-based Waste Management Inc., to hand over records of their management oversight and again ask for Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) records.
"We will certainly comply with any request from the House Commerce committee," Sarah Voss, spokeswoman for Waste Management, told Reuters. The companies, which also include Stamford, Conn.-based Xerox Corp., Houston-based Enron Corp., and Kmart Corp., Troy, Mich., have until July 17 to respond to Congress.
