Fort Worth, Texas – Fort Worth is recommending private companies take over its Southeast landfill, according to the

Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

After 18 months of examination, consultants also are proposing that the city’s garbage services be split into six pieces that would be handled by five companies: Trinity Waste Services, Fort Worth, Texas; Waste Management Inc., Houston; IESI, Fort Worth, Texas; Abitibi Consolidated, Montreal; and Toter, Statesville, N.C. The city still is considering whether a pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) program would be a useful option.
