Washington, D.C. — The House of Representatives passed a bill Tuesday that exempts small businesses from paying for toxic cleanup operations required by the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA), Washington, D.C., Superfund program. The bill, passed 419 to 0, states that companies with fewer than 100 employees, and companies that dump less than 110 gallons of non-hazardous liquid waste or less than 200 pounds of non-hazardous waste are not subject to cleanup lawsuits or responsible for cleanup costs.
