Concord, N.H. — Effective Monday, July 23, New Hampshire will ban residents from burning garbage in their yards in an attempt to cut down on cancer-causing pollutants emitted by trash fires. The state Department of Environmental Services says that household trash-burning contributes about 17 percent of New Hampshire's dioxins. Residents still will be allowed to burn untreated wood, leaves, brush and certain paper products.
