ACQUISITIONS

  • Waste Industries Inc., Raleigh, N.C., has acquired some of Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Allied Waste Industries Inc.'s commercial routes in Memphis, Tenn.; Nashville, Tenn.; Augusta, Ga., Pensacola, Fla.; and Norfolk, Va.

  • Environmental Support Solutions, Tempe, Ariz., has acquired RMS Systems Inc., Denver, a developer of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training and safety software.



ALLIANCES

  • Wireless Data Solutions Inc., Oceanside, Calif., has formed an alliance with Soft Pak Inc., San Diego, to provide a tracking and communication system for waste industry commercial trucks.

  • The Valvoline Co., Lexington, Ky., and Cummins Inc., Columbus, Ind., have renewed their sales and marketing alliance for an additional five years.

  • DTE Energy Services, Detroit, has chosen Washington Group International, Boise, Idaho, as its “firm of choice” for engineering and construction services.

  • Amerimulch, Independence, Ohio, has partnered with Term-A-Rid 613, North East, Md., to produce mulch, made with the Term-A-Rid 613 formula, designed to control termites to protect wood.

  • Actio Corp., Hampton, N.H., has formed a partnership with Brady Corp., Milwaukee, to provide a real-time, web-based hazardous communication (HazCom) labeling system.



AWARDS

  • BASF Corp., Mt. Olive, N.J., has won the 2001 Automotive News Premier Automotive Suppliers' Contributions to Excellence award in the environmental advances category.

  • Newstech Recycling Partnership, Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, has given its annual Supplier of the Year award to Crown Packaging's Paper Recovery Division, British Columbia.

  • Dana Corp.'s, Toledo, Ohio, Perfect Circle Division Richmond Liner Foundry has earned the Indiana Governor's Award for Excellence in Recycling for turning quenched cupola slag, a non-hazardous waste material, into material as a substitute raw material that can be used to make cement.

  • J&J Truck Equipment, Somerset, Pa., has received the Presidential Award for Outstanding Achievement from Tulsa, Okla.-based Auto Crane for excellence in sales for the second year in a row.
