Austin, Texas — The Washington, D.C.-based National Recycling Coalition hosts its 21st annual National Recycling Congress and Exposition in Austin this week, from Monday to Wednesday, Sept. 11.

This year’s Congress features more than 40 educational sessions on topics including electronics recycling, maximizing recycling program effectiveness with budget cuts, and increasing beverage container recycling.

Marianne Horinko, assistant administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER), also will launch the agency’s Resource Conservation Challenge during her keynote speech today. The challenge is designed to encourage Americans to take a renewed interest and responsibility in the impact their individual actions have on the environment.

Additionally, the Computer TakeBack Campaign will hold a press conference discussing the public health threats and recycling challenges posed by discarded electronic equipment, and calling on industry leaders to support producer take-back programs.
