Denton, Texas -- Peterbilt Motors Co. has added an online survey to its website, www.peterbilt.com, to help determine customer opinions and expectations regarding the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) mandated 2002 engine emissions standards and their potential impact on the trucking industry. To date, there have been nearly 10,000 respondents.

The survey includes 12 questions, including opinions on whether the new engines will accelerate or delay the decision to purchase a new vehicle, how the pre-owned market will be affected and how engines will affect vehicle weight. Already, at least one report says the trucking industry has seen an increase in purchase orders from fleet managers hoping to circumvent the rule [See "Truck Firms Buy More Models To Avoid EPA Rule," May 28, 2002 online story].
