Reflective Tape on Big Trucks Reduces Crashes, New Study Reports

Washington, D.C. — When fully implemented, federal rules requiring that heavy trailers be equipped with reflective tape will prevent 7,800 crashes annually, according to a new study by the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Additionally, the study estimates that the requirements will prevent as many as 350 fatalities and as many as 5,000 inuries per year.
