Supreme Court Issues Pivotal EPA Ruling

Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld the federal government's method of setting air pollution standards. In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court said that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) did not usurp Congress' lawmaking power when it established strict ozone and soot guidelines in 1997. However, the court said that the EPA's implementation of the rule is unlawful and should be revisited.
