Tennessee Waste Controllers Get Kudos From DOT

Memphis, Tenn. – Two state organizations will be giving away up to $40,000 in awards to organizations, counties, businesses, institutions and individuals who have demonstrated success in litter prevention, beautification and environmental education. At an awards luncheon in Nashville, Tenn., Feb. 20, a panel of judges will award 16 $1,000 prizes and eight $3,000 prizes. Categories in the $1,000 range include programs directed toward adults, businesses, governments, media and schools, and categories in the $3,000 range will be granted to cities and counties. The program is sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Transportation, Nashville, and Keep Tennessee Beautiful, Memphis. The application deadline is Jan. 22.
