Boston – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has reached a $3 million settlement with a trash hauler in Boston who is being held responsible for contributing ozone-depleting gases to the atmosphere. The hauler stands accused of crushing and compacting refrigerators, freezers and other discarded appliances without first removing or checking on the sources of the appliances' ozone-depleting gases.
