Denton, Texas -- Peterbilt Motors Co., Denton, Texas, and Heil Environmental Industries Ltd., Chattanooga, Tenn., are offering $2,000 discounts on Class 8 Peterbilt trucks specified with Heil dump bodies and October 2002 emission-compliant engines. This will help customers offset increased costs due to the Washington, D.C.-based Environmental Protection Agency’s emission requirements, the companies say. The discount is being offered for a limited time on new vehicles ordered through Peterbilt dealers.

Similar to Peterbilt and Heil, International Truck and Engine Corp., Warrenville, Ill., also is trying to offset costs of the more expensive Oct. 2002 emission-compliant engines. International is offering a $2,500 incentive, trade-in allowance, or parts and service credit for customers who purchase an 8000 Series or 9000I Series heavy vehicles.
