Acquisitions

  • Durand, Mich.-based Terex Recycling has acquired the marketing rights to the Biogrind, Megagrind and Maxigrind product lines from CMI Environmental Grinders, Oklahoma City.

  • Marlborough, Mass.-based North East Waste Services Inc. has acquired the operating subsidiaries of Waste Systems International Inc., Lexington, Mass., by funding the company's Chapter 11 reorganization plan.

  • Announcements

  • Through a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Inspector General (OIG) report, the Bush administration has cut the funds necessary to clean up 33 toxic waste sites in 18 states under its Superfund program. The cuts will stop cleanup work at some of the more polluted sites in the country, according to the report.

  • Cambridge, Mass.-based CDM will celebrate its 10th anniversary in design-build and construction delivery services.

  • The Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF), Washington, D.C., has awarded $811,281 in solid waste management grants to North Carolina State University, Raleigh, University of Central Florida, Orlando, Chicago-based R.D. Gibbons Ltd., Lewiston, N.Y.-based Terra-Dynamics Inc., Amherst, N.Y.-based Severn Trent Laboratories Inc. and GeoSyntec Consultants, Columbia, Md.

  • The Harrison Landfill, Tucson, Ariz., has been named Project of the Year from the American Public Works Association (APWA), Kansas City, Mo.
