Waste Management Relocates Sustainability Services Headquarters
Waste Management Inc. has relocated the headquarters of its Sustainability Services Group to Windsor, Conn.
Houston-based Waste Management said in a news release that more than 500 sustainability services employees will work at the Windsor site, the former headquarters of Oakleaf Waste Management LLC, which Waste Management purchased in July 2011.
The positions came from multiple Waste Management locations nationwide, as well as some new hires, said Wes Muir, director of corporate communications for the company, in an e-mail.
Since Waste Management acquired Oakleaf it has developed or transferred 113 positions to the Windsor offices and expects to add 67 more jobs in 2012.
Waste Management has been integrating Oakleaf into its Sustainability Services unit. The company said Oakleaf has helped Waste Management increase its national accounts customer base, and the vendor hauler network improves the company’s service footprint to new regions and ability to be a one-stop shop for environmental solutions.
"With the assistance of a 2010 economic development grant from the state of Connecticut, Oakleaf was able to lay the foundation for future growth by improving its headquarters infrastructure and upgrading technologies,” said Steven Preston, executive vice president of Finance, Recycling and Energy Services for Waste Management. “The strength of that foundation was critical in Waste Management's decision to consolidate these operations in Connecticut.”
The Sustainability Services unit helps businesses and organizations develop waste and sustainability solutions.
