Under terms of a revised contract, Advanced Disposal Services will provide the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District with up to $14.5 million worth of free landfill gas over 25 years from the Emerald Park Landfill.

The new terms stem from the fact that Advanced Disposal has not delivered the minimum amount of landfill gas required under the original contract signed with the district.

The Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel has more:

Advanced Disposal, owner of Emerald Park, has not delivered even the minimum annual amount of landfill gas required under the original contract, providing only 29% of the contract minimum flow in 2015 and less than one-third in 2014, records show.

"They have not been able to meet the production schedule," MMSD Executive Director Kevin Shafer said.

Beginning in January, MMSD will not pay for up to $580,000 worth of landfill gas each year for the 25-year term of the revised agreement, according to documents provided to the sewerage district's commission.
