Fenimore Landfill Opponents Clash with Highlands Council

Criticism has grown over a special committee charged with determining if the controversial Fenimore landfill in Roxbury is leaching contaminants into Drake’s Brook that flows through Flanders.

The committee, formed by the N.J. Highlands Council to review the potential environmental impacts of the landfill in Roxbury, will not include a member of the council who has the strong backing of a citizens group and a water protection advocacy group, both strong opponents of state plans for the closed landfill.

Area residents who have been critical of the Highlands Council said the council will not name one of its members, Tracy Carluccio, to the so-called “Fenimore Water Committee” because she has been outspoken in criticism of prior council actions.
