EIA Names Hagan Director of Safety
The Environmental Industry Associations (EIA) has appointed Phil Hagan as its new director of safety.
Hagan will work with the industry to address safety issues and expand the association’s safety program, the Washington-based EIA said in a news release.
Hagan will work with former EIA safety director David Biderman, who EIA promoted to vice president for government affairs, during a short transition period.
Hagan has worked in safety and risk management in operations for more than 25 years. He is an author focusing on occupational safety and health. He is both past and current editor and author of the National Safety Council’s Accident Prevention Manuals. He holds a teaching position at Georgetown University.
“Our safety program is one of the most popular programs that we offer our members and we see significant opportunities to broaden the program,” said Sharon Kneiss, EIA president and CEO. “As NSWMA-WASTEC (National Solid Wastes Management Association and Waste Equipment Technology Association) is committed to being the voice of all things related to waste and recycling, it only makes sense that we have one of the leading experts in workplace safety on our team.”
