Fires are one of the greatest threats to waste and recycling operations, as they are costly and disruptive. Over the past four years, the number of fires at solid waste and recycling facilities have increased dramatically, so in an effort to prevent fires and better respond when a fire does occur, the panel will address fire prevention, action items to be prepared for fires, strategies for fighting fires, safety guidelines for dealing with fires in waste collection vehicles, programs that can be immediately and easily implemented at solid waste facilities across North America and more.
