Residents Want More Testing at West Lake Landfill

Living in suspense – toxic suspense – near the West Lake Landfill, neighbors are demanding more tests.

Some view landfill owner Republic Services as a money-driven corporation doing less than it can to ensure public safety.

Resident Dawn Chapman is among those wanting Republic to pay for more tests to find out exactly where the underground fire is in relation to the nearby nuclear waste, “Why can’t they just get it? Other than the money, I don’t want to hear that. That’s their problem. They own this landfill. This is their problem. They’re obligated to pay for it, whatever it is.”
