Residents who live near concrete recycling plants in Long Island, N.Y., are not keen on the amount of traffic, loud noise and pollution that the local cement trucks are causing. Some residents are even cutting back on their time spent outdoors due to these ongoing issues.
A public hearing and a vote to regulate the plants took place on Tuesday night.

Long Island residents who live near concrete recycling plants are demanding an end to heavy cement truck traffic and harsh crushing sounds.
The Peralta family told CBS2’s Jennifer McLogan they are cutting back their time they spend outside. They live on Grand Boulevard near the industrial park on the New Cassel-Westbury border where concrete recycling plants flourish.
“That’s what we are breathing in,” Liz Peralta said. “We don’t want it to be polluted for ourselves and for our kids.”
